Sixth Form

In our Sixth Form, we are committed to providing an age-respectful, personalised and ambitious learning experience for all the young people.

Our aim is to offer a comprehensive, meaningful and diverse range of age-respectful learning opportunities that will equip the young people with the skills necessary for a successful transition into adulthood, while also supporting them in working towards their EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) outcomes.

We recognise the importance of fostering independence and empowerment in our students. Rather than having things 'done' for them, we strive to enable and empower them to take an active role in their own learning and decision-making processes. Through the curriculum offer we support their journey towards greater independence, promoting confidence and self-advocacy skills.

Our curriculum offer includes a carefully planned enterprise and career program, designed to provide meaningful experiences and opportunities for our young people. This program has a positive impact as it enables them to develop important skills such as communication, social and community engagement, ultimately preparing them for their next step in adulthood.

Our Sixth Form provides a genuine sense of belonging, ensuring that every student feels valued and included. We enhance our provision by offering a wider range of ASDAN accreditations, providing opportunities for our students to develop skills and gain sensory qualifications that align with their interests and EHCP outcomes.

At The Children's Trust School, we understand the importance of meaningful personalised sensory experiences when it comes to exploring and teaching the topics of careers and enterprise.

We also believe in providing our students with early exposure to the real world, whether it's a trip to the dentist, a visit to the hairdressers, or enjoying a meal at a cafe.

Our whole-school approach ensures that this valuable encounter with the world of work begins early in a child's education journey.
