Short breaks

Residential short breaks at The Children’s Trust offer flexible, nurse-led care for children and young people between the ages of 0-18.

Set in 24-acres of beautiful woodland at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, Surrey, we offer overnight stays in comfortable, fully-accessible bedrooms, available seven days a week.

With facilities including sensory gardens, a nature trail, outdoor basketball court and playground, our tailored packages offer breaks for children and young people, and much needed rest time for their families.

The children we support may:

  • have complex disabilities and health care needs which require support from a carer or a nurse
  • be vulnerable to acute health changes, necessitating in them needing 24-hour care

Due to the vulnerability of children at The Children's Trust we are unable to accommodate children with severe challenging behaviour, however, we may be able to suggest alternative placements.

During their stay, children enjoy a variety of fun leisure activities, facilities and outings, and also have access to on-site daily school sessions during term-time. In addition, we also offer a range of activities including arts and crafts, themed weeks, and group and individual activities.

Packages are available for children and young people from a wide geographical area, and our dedicated Placements Team work closely with a number of parties including integrated care boards (ICBs), local authority social care teams and private funders to discuss suitability and availability of a short breaks placement.
