On Tuesday 24 February, 23-year-old Zac Lammas took centre stage to perform his very first comedy sketch at The Children’s Trust Comedy Night.

Zac was supported by The Children’s Trust in 2019 after a ruptured arteriovenous malformation (AVM) caused a bleed on the brain. After life-saving surgery and spending two months in a coma, he spent four months at The Children’s Trust’s specialist centre in Surrey, undergoing intensive rehabilitation and receiving 24-hour care.

He first attended Comedy Night as a guest, then returned last year to share his story on stage. This year marked an extraordinary milestone: Zac performed his own comedy sketch, showing just how far he has come – and how deeply connected he now feels to the event.

Zac Lammas said: “I was given less than a 1% chance of survival after suffering my brain injury. I was unable to do anything for myself. With the help of the amazing team at The Children’s Trust, I relearned the skills that I had lost. This is a massive moment for me. To actually be on stage performing alongside Adam Hills really is a dream I never imagined would come true.”

Since leaving The Children’s Trust, Zac has gone on to pass his GSCE’s and T Level in engineering and now works in the field. He volunteers for The Children’s Trust, mentoring young people with brain injuries and speaking at fundraising events.

A huge thank you

Our heartfelt thanks go to our ambassador Adam Hills for hosting such a fantastic evening, and to the brilliant lineup – Jack Dee, Jake Lambert, Lindsey Santoro, Luisa Omielan, Tim Vine, Dinesh Nathan, and Joshua Robertson – who generously gave their time to perform.

We’re also incredibly grateful to The Comedy Store, London, for hosting us; Off the Kerb Productions for organising the incredible lineup; and our event sponsors Devine Homes. Your support makes this unforgettable night possible.
