August was a fun and enriching time for the children and families we support, and our Sports Inclusion Day was no exception. Around 50 children and young people took part, enjoying the outdoors, trying new activities, and showing that sport really can be for everyone.

There were lots of activities to take part in, including football, tennis, archery, hockey, boccia, curling, and a Nerf target challenge using specially adapted equipment. The children and young people were encouraged to join in at their own pace, with some practising balance and motor skills, and others simply enjoying the buzz of trying something different.

Our Chief Executive, Mike Thiedke, got to spend time with colleagues, parents, children, and volunteers. He said:

"Children got very competitive, with plenty of big smiles, especially when one young boy beat his dad in one of the games. You could see it just made his day!"

The benefits of the day went far beyond fresh air and fun. Each activity was carefully chosen to build confidence and support therapy goals, showing that the best rehabilitation happens through being incorporated into daily life and is filled with joy and motivation.

Some of the children played boccia, tennis, and football to build teamwork and coordination, and tried archery and hockey to sharpen their focus and motor skills. Thanks to adapted equipment, some children were able to try curling for the first time, and the Nerf target challenge proved a playful way to practise accuracy.

The day ended on a high, with plenty of smiles, new skills learned and families enjoying the chance to share in the experience together.
