February at The Children’s Trust is all about togetherness. With Valentine’s Day approaching and our much-loved annual Comedy Night just around the corner, it’s a month that reminds us of the power of relationships, connection, and shared moments of joy – especially during challenging times.

As part of our enrichment events this month, the children and young people we support will be having fun and getting creative with their families and peers through activities that foster friendship and togetherness.

There’ll be lots to enjoy, including a guest appearance from our animal-loving friends, Kelly and Izzy, who’ll give the children a chance to hold and interact with some furry, slithery, and curious critters!

We’ll have lively drumming sessions, a playful puppetry performance, and a doughnut decorating workshop where children can get messy with their friends. And we’ll be hosting a Friendship Ball – a joyful celebration full of music and singing, where everyone can get involved and soak up the lively atmosphere.

Activities like these are about having fun, but they also play an important role in the care and support we provide. Shared moments of joy help children and young people build friendships, confidence and emotional wellbeing, while encouraging participation and communication. They also help children work on their movement and communication goals in ways that are fun and motivating

But it doesn’t stop with enrichment activities. Through our year-round specialist rehabilitation work and life at our school, we’re always here supporting children to build the skills and confidence they need to live the best life possible – and to connect with the people who matter to them most.

Laughter that brings people together

Later in the month, that sense of connection continues with our annual Comedy Night fundraiser, returning to the iconic Comedy Store in London’s West End. Now in its 12th year, Comedy Night has become a much-loved fixture in our calendar, bringing people together for an evening of laughter while raising vital funds for children and young people with brain injury and neurodisability.

The night is hosted by our brilliant ambassador and host of The Last Leg, Adam Hills MBE, and features a fantastic line-up of comedians including Jake Lambert, Joshua Robertson, Dinesh Nathan, Lindsey Santoro and Luisa Omielan.

Over the years, Comedy Night has helped raise significant funds to support children and families at some of the most challenging moments of their lives, and this year promises to be just as special. Alongside the comedy, guests can also look forward to an exciting auction, with prizes kindly donated to help raise even more money for our vital services. A big thanks to our Comedy Night sponsor, Devine Homes.

Fancy joining in the laughs?

This year’s Comedy Night will be a particularly special one, featuring a guest appearance from Zac, who was supported by The Children’s Trust after acquiring a brain injury as a teenager. Now a young adult, Zac wants to use his experience to inspire other children and young people facing similar journeys – a powerful reminder of why the work we do is so important.
