Generosity inspired across generations
Reed Foundation donate £10,000 to support The Children’s Trust.
This year, the Reed Foundation, part of the Reed Group, is donating £10,000 every week, to support 52 different charities chosen by its employees. Every week, a Reed employee is drawn randomly to nominate a charity of their choice to receive the incredible donation.
One such employee was Freya Mean, who opted to nominate The Children’s Trust to receive the generous donation.
The Children’s Trust is meaningful to Freya as her Nan, Merlyn, worked here as a play therapist for 19 years. At the time that Merlyn first started working at The Children’s Trust, it had just changed from being a countryside branch of Great Ormond Street Hospital, to the charity that it is today.
As a thank you, Freya and Merlyn were invited to an event at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, Surrey, so they could revisit the site and hear more about the work we do today.
Merlyn said: “It’s been wonderful to visit with my granddaughter today, it really is a special place. The technology and facilities have moved on since I worked here, but the ethos remains the same – putting the child and family first.”
Michelle Martin, Director of Fundraising and Communications at The Children's Trust, says: "We are incredibly grateful for the donation from Reed, and touched that it came from a member of staff with such a lovely connection to our charity.
“These vital funds will support children with brain injury and neurodisability, helping to fund a range of services from days out for families who have spent long periods of time in hospital, to purchasing equipment for our rehabilitation centre or specialist school."
