Volunteers’ Week returns this year after reaching its 40th anniversary last year. From 2 to 8 June 2025, The Children's Trust will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK.

Running every year since 1984, the week provides a crucial opportunity to thank volunteers and recognise the value of their time, passion and skills. The campaign highlights the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK.

Volunteers at The Children’s Trust

With dedication and kindness, our volunteers support every area of The Children's Trust, making a difference where it’s needed most.

Volunteers support across the organisation; from driving families to days out and medical appointments, gardening and maintaining the beautiful grounds, to supporting teachers in classrooms and providing administrative support.

  • Retail and event volunteers donate an average of 3,600 hours each month.
  • Volunteer drivers donated 2,200 hours last year, driving approximately 568 journeys and covering over 30,000 miles.
  • Gardening volunteers planted 25 trees; pruned, fertilised, and debugged 120 roses; weeded and mulched 18 flower beds; and created 2 new flower beds at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, Surrey.
  • Administrative volunteers donated 1,200 hours of your time across departments such as occupational health, compliance, events, and fundraising.
  • Volunteer classroom assistants provided support at approximately 117 classes.
  • Fundraising volunteers collected 3,000 donation boxes and counted just under £40,000 in coins.

Each hour donated by our volunteers enables us to succeed in our ambition to help the children and young people we support to live their best life possible.
