The Children’s Trust has shared the news that Harry Judd, drummer of McFly and Strictly Come Dancing winner, and his wife Izzy, are helping raise awareness and funds for children with brain injury by becoming the charity’s newest Ambassadors.

The couple fully understand how a brain injury can affect a family. Izzy’s brother Rupert was 18 years old when a car accident left him with a severe brain injury. Izzy was 13 at the time, and has spoken in the past about the effect this had on Rupert and her family.

“I am sadly aware just how devastating brain injury can be. The Children’s Trust does amazing work and I am really excited, now more than ever, to be helping raise awareness of brain injury in young people.”

Harry and Izzy have visited The Children Trust’s specialist centre in Tadworth over many years, and Izzy will soon be running mindfulness sessions for children, families and staff.

Harry said: “I have been lucky enough to meet some very special children who have been helped by the charity, including Haydn, who learnt the drums during his rehabilitation. I was amazed to hear the progress he has made.”

You can read Haydn’s story here, which shows the power of music therapy in rehabilitation.

Harry is now raising funds for The Children’s Trust during the COVID-19 crisis by selecting ten people at random to have an online drum lesson or video chat through Instagram/Just Giving.
