Every year, 40,000 children in the UK are left with a brain injury after an accident or illness. Here at the Children’s Trust, we deliver expert rehabilitation, therapy, care and education services for children dealing with the life-changing effects of a brain injury or neurodisability.

Children like Violet.

Violet came to The Children’s Trust for rehabilitation after experiencing a stroke aged eight. She lost the use of her right arm and leg, and was struggling to communicate.

Whilst here, Violet had physiotherapy, occupational therapy, school lessons, speech and language classes and emotional therapy too. At first, she found it hard to talk about her feelings, but while building with Lego in therapy she revealed that she understood what had happened, knew her future might be different, and wasn’t afraid.

During her nine weeks of intensive rehabilitation, Violet made brilliant progress and is continuing to go from strength to strength now she is back home. She is attending school full time and back enjoying her beloved horse riding. Before the stroke, her dream was to compete in showjumping at the Olympics, and she's still aiming high, except now, it's for the Paralympics!

“By the time we left [The Children’s Trust], her soul was back. Her spark. It was like talking to Violet again. We feel like our little girl has a really great future ahead of her. The Children’s Trust does that for families.”  Rob, Violet’s dad
