The Children's Trust Big Thank You
Published on: 21/09/26
We want to take this opportunity to say a Big Thank You to everyone who is part of the wider community behind The Children’s Trust - our staff, volunteers supporters, partners, commissioners, funders, children and families.
Over the last year, with your support, we've been able to help more than 400 children with brain injury and neurodisability access our services and benefit from a specialist programme of therapy, education and care. In the past year, an average of 65 children and young people were supported each day across our specialist rehabilitation and education services. Over 500 goals were set with over 70 children.
Behind each number is a much bigger story: a child rebuilding their strength, confidence and independence, and a family finding the support, guidance and reassurance they need to move forward with hope. Whether it's taking a first step, returning to school or achieving a goal that once felt out of reach, these moments are made possible by supporters like you.
You have helped children, young people and families look to the future with hope.
Our highly personalised approach to rehabilitation is helping transform outcomes for children and their families. We use the F-Words framework to help children and families work towards the outcomes that matter most to them across six key areas of life: Family, Fitness, Friends, Fun, Function and Future.
By focusing on personally meaningful goals, such as participating in family meals, playing with friends, riding a bike or returning to school, children become more engaged in their rehabilitation. In the past year, 72 children set more than 510 goals, reporting an average improvement of 128%, with the greatest progress being with goals relating to Future (185%) and Function (141%).
For children like Marnie, specialist rehabilitation can be life-changing. After a stroke in 2024 left her with a brain injury, Marnie worked with our therapists to set her goals and to regain everyday skills, so she could return to the activities she loved. Today, she has returned to school full-time and is back riding her bike, demonstrating how personalised rehabilitation can help children reclaim their confidence, independence and future.
This is the difference you make.
Rehabilitation, education and care is about far more than the thousands of hours of therapy sessions and teaching in the classroom. Our dedicated teams also create opportunities for children to play, explore, build confidence and simply enjoy being children again.
Over the summer, we provided enriching activities for more than 50 children, allowing them to experience the joy of play in ways carefully designed to support their individual needs and learning. While having fun, they continued to develop important skills through play. Whether exploring different textures, engaging with music, expressing themselves through art, or discovering new sights, sounds and colours, each activity is designed to encourage curiosity, confidence and enjoyment.
Your donations have also helped fund trips out for children and young people, which provide a wonderful opportunity to engage, explore, and create memories. This summer, children enjoyed a boat trip, taking in the peaceful surroundings, fresh air, and slower pace of life on the water.
None of this would be possible without the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our volunteers and the expertise of our staff. Together, we are helping children with brain injury and neurodisability live the best possible life.
Thank you
