Volunteer at The Supercar Event and Help Us Raise £100,000

The Children’s Trust is asking for help with its biggest annual fundraiser, The Supercar Event. Taking place on 7 and 8 July at Rockingham Circuit, the interactive supercar festival will raise over £100,000 to help children with brain injury, and it urgently needs volunteers. Offering once-in-a-lifetime passenger rides, live shows and a range of family attractions, the event has a number of volunteering opportunities including assisting with ticket sales, parking and visitor support. The Supercar Event was started by Richard Davis, who still volunteers with the charity today, helping to raise funds for The Children’s Trust.  Richard was inspired by his friend’s daughter Becky who stayed at the charity’s national specialist centre following a serious illness. In 2006, Becky was rushed to hospital. She had contracted an infection that would affect her brain function. After she had regained consciousness she had lost the ability to walk, talk and feed herself. Becky moved to The Children’s Trust for rehabilitation to relearn the skills she had lost. When Richard heard about Becky’s partial recovery, he visited her, and the other children at The Children’s Trust, with friends from a Ferrari forum to give them rides in their cars. It was such a success that the group decided they might be able to help raise funds for the charity by giving rides to the public. Since then, the event has grown to attract 20,000 people and this year will make its debut at Rockingham Circuit. The event is still run by Richard and a committee of volunteers. But they need more help! Volunteers will be given a family ticket to the event, lunch and the opportunity to learn new skills, have fun and make friends. They might see some familiar faces over the weekend too as previous famous guests include Shane Richie, Chris Evans and Phil Tufnell. To sign up to volunteer visit thechildrenstrust.org.uk/volunteer-events or call 01737 364 324. If volunteering isn’t your thing, you can pre-book tickets to the event now.
