Tracy Poulton

Petrolheads will know The Supercar Event 2017 is a weekend that simply cannot be missed. To celebrate it being just under a month until the event, we've listed the top 10 reasons that you cannot be anywhere other than Dunsfold Park over the weekend of 24 – 25 June. You can thank us later!  1 – Ride in a supercar. No doubt the main attraction is once-in-a-lifetime rides in one of 150 elite supercars, around the world famous Top Gear track. You can pay a bit extra to hand pick the car that you want to have a spin in if you have a favourite. Picture credit: StreetCarl on Flickr 2 – The Porsche 918 Spyder*. There will be world-famous hypercars available for passenger rides and the Porsche 918 Spyder has been confirmed to be one of them. For those who do not know about this beauty; it’s the fastest production car to go from 0 – 60mph in 2.2 seconds, there are only 918 of them worldwide and it is so environmentally friendly that it is exempt from the congestion charge in London!  3 – Celebrity Spotting. The list of celebs attended in recent years include car enthusiast Chris Evans, TV presenter Andrea McLean, Mark Dixon from Eddie Stobart, regular host of the event Craig Phillips and even former Formula 1 Driver Max Chilton. Nick Whale is presenting the event this year and you never know who might be joining him through the weekend – keep your eyes peeled!  4 – Helicopter rides. Ride in a helicopter at over 100mph and get a unique bird’s eye view of The Supercar Event and the beautiful Surrey hills from 1,000ft off the ground. Helicopters seat 4 or 6 people and rides are available to book in advance of the event. An experience not to be missed. Picture credit: zombieite on Flickr 5 – Ariel Nomads. We’ve got two Ariel Nomad’s confirmed. With no roof, achieving speeds of 0 – 60mph in just 3.4 seconds, and the ability to drive just about anywhere, they are definitely something to get excited about! Rest assured at the event they will be staying firmly on the track. 6 – Caterham Seven rides. If you are looking for an adrenaline fuelled attraction make sure to stop off and watch the Caterham Sevens. If you are really daring you can even ride in one, but be prepared to be spun, skidded and spiralled all over the place!  7 – Batman and his Batmobile. Among the host of amazing supercars that will be present, Batman himself will be at the event in his Batmobile, known to others as a matte black Lamborghini Aventador. Make sure to keep an eye out for this superhero flying around the track with a host of superhero wannabees (usually parents instead of children) who will be queuing around the block to meet him. 8 - Wall of Death. If you know about the Wall of Death, you know it’s a jaw-dropping attraction. Stunt riders on Indian motorbikes riding a 20ft vertical wall. Have you ever dreamt of riding in a Lamborghini Countach, the iconic star car from The Cannonball Run, or the classic Volkswagen Beetle from Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo? The Sporting Bear Dream Rides club bring a host of classic cars along to ride in which could include your all-time favourite. 10 – The Children’s Trust.  The Supercar Event is the biggest fundraising event for The Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury. The weekend raises over £100k which helps the charity give children with brain injury the best lives possible. Even more the reason to come along and have a great day out!
