Thank you to our volunteers who have given 120,763 hours of their time in the last year!
As it is Volunteers' Week what better time for us to say a big thank you to the 520 volunteers who currently help The Children's Trust. In the last year our incredible volunteers collectively gave the Trust over 120,763 hours of their time. They have helped in so many different ways, from giving support during children's therapy sessions, assisting during lessons at the School for Profound Education, driving, shop volunteering, and admin duties. Jonathan, pictured with 13-year-old Martin, has been volunteering for four years and helps out with driving duties. He says "Any family who needs my services can ring the transport department at any time and it works perfectly. I enjoy meeting people and talking to the parents is very satisfying." Phil Wilcox has been volunteering in the Marketing and Communications department for almost three years. The former Government information specialist says he feels a valued member of team, adding: "When I was due to retire, a charity contact who worked for another government department suggested volunteering at the Trust, where she had regular dealings with senior officials. "I jumped at the opportunity! I was immediately made to feel welcome by everyone, and soon became an established part of the Trust family." Since volunteering Phil has twice been the proud recipient of Volunteer of the Year Awards. "Both were a total surprise," he says. "I must have done something right! I was delighted. I really cannot recommend working here as a volunteer highly enough!" This year five of our volunteers were honoured with the title Community Hero in the annual Surrey Life magazine Awards. And each December the Trust holds its own Volunteer Awards Ceremony as a way of saying thank you. Volunteers' Week is an annual event which celebrates the contributions volunteers make across the UK. Our volunteers:
