In 1984, the local community and staff from Tadworth Court, the country branch of Great Ormond Street Hospital, came together to save the facility from closure and The Children's Trust was born. Since then, we have enjoyed close links to the community - many of you have volunteered with us, attended our events, worked for us and donated. Some of you may even know children we have helped.
We now support more than 1,200 children with brain injury and neurodisability every year through education, health, therapy and care, both residentially here in Tadworth and, in communities across the UK. This has been possible thanks to you and our amazing supporters.
The Children's Trust School has been open since 1985; however, the physical space in our school is limiting our ability to give children and their families the best care and education possible. A new building will enable better use of technology and therapies, create spaces specifically for families to be together, and utilise the restorative effects of nature to help children develop, learn, use their senses and, ultimately, just be children.
Thank you to our local Councillors, neighbours and members of the wider community who attended one of our virtual consultation meetings to learn more about our plans to build a new Centre on The Children’s Trust site.
We have put together some Frequently Asked Questions to answer any queries you may have, if there is anything we have not covered, please do contact us by emailing [email protected] The presentation is available here – and some of the answers can be understood more easily by reading these slides in conjunction with the drawings on the presentation.
