Retail Management Opportunities – various locations

Here at The Children’s Trust we value the work of our Retail staff and volunteers greatly; with 20 shops across the South East, selling a variety of stock, including: fashion, furniture and electrical goods, our dedicated Retail staff and volunteers continue to support The Children’s Trust in our fundraising efforts. This has played a vital part in supporting thousands of children with acquired brain injury, neuro-disability, and complex health needs, through the amazing work we do as the UK’s leading charity for children and young people with acquired brain injury.We’re looking for highly motivated, positive and resilient individuals, with previous retail and people management experience, to help us further develop our retail service and commercial success, as well as raising public awareness of our campaigns, and establishing our shops within the local community. You’ll be an experienced Retailer, confident in working within a fast paced environment, and motivated by the knowledge that your hard work will make a lifesaving difference; you'll be ambitious, proactive, and commercially aware, with a passion for working at The Children’s Trust.

We’re committed to your development, and will actively support you through further training and the opportunity to obtain recognised qualifications, e.g. through the National Apprenticeship Scheme, such as Customer Service (Levels 2 & 3) or Retailer (Level 2).
Shop Manager, Full Time (37.5 hrs per week - 5 days a week), £18,197 per annum As one of our Shop Managers, you’ll be responsible for the smooth, day-to-day operations of all shop activities, aiming to achieve sales targets and maximise the Retail contribution to the charity's fundraising targets; you'll have the necessary leadership skills to recruit, develop, and motivate a team of both staff and volunteers, as well as the ability to demonstrate strong communication, organisation, and merchandising skills. You’ll know what it takes to deliver exceptional customer service, and will possess an understanding of how to interpret and analyse sales figures and trends, in order to proactively maximise income, and help the charity in increasing its yearly income.

Knowledge and skills required

  • Experience of working within a customer focused environment - Essential
  • Ability to utilise strong sales skills to increase “Bag Value” and maximise profits - Essential
  • Ability to encourage the donation of quality goods, in order to increase income through Donated Stock and Gift Aid - Essential
  • Experience of managing a successful team - Essential
  • Able to prioritise and organise workload using strong administration skills - Essential
  • Possess strong IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Word; Excel; and Outlook - Essential
  • Experience of working with volunteers - Desirable
  • Ability to drive and have use of a car - Desirable

Assistant Shop Managers, Part Time, £16,402 per annum (pro rata)As an Assistant Shop Manager, you will support the Shop Manager in maximising sales and achieving targets, as well as supporting with the implementation of new processes within the store. Providing first class customer service, whilst supporting the Shop Manager in coordinating daily duties and a team of staff and volunteers, you’ll support us in delivering real commercial success. Your role will be key in developing our links within the local community, and raising public awareness of our campaigns; you will be a confident and enthusiastic communicator, passionate about both retail and The Children’s Trust.
