Reigate Grammar School Run

Reigate Grammar School Putting the FUN into 'FUN'draising for The Children's Trust!

On the afternoon of Thursday 28th June 2018, under blue skies and a scorching sun, the Second and Third Form students of Reigate Grammar School piled out of the coaches that had transported them to the top of Reigate Hill for the annual 'Tadworth Court Run'.   Now a historic event in the school calendar, the run has taken place for decades and is seen almost as a 'rite of passage' by students who follow in the footsteps of the thousands of students who have completed it before them. The four-mile course begins at the top of Reigate Hill and follows a scenic route through woodland, which is marshalled by twenty Reigate Grammar School staff, before finishing at the Tadworth Cricket Club on Mill Lane.   Every year, in the spring term, two second form students are given the opportunity to visit The Children’s Trust and see first-hand the wonderful work we do. This year, they were inspired by their tour of the site and back at school, they addressed their peers with an encouraging speech, urging them to do their best to fundraise. They were accompanied on stage by a guest speaker, Marjorie Harris from The Children’s Trust, who showed a moving film about Ryan, a current patient, who gave the history of his accident and subsequent care.   Despite the heat, the students gave their all and completed the run –some even running three-legged! It was a lovely opportunity for the students to meet the Deputy Mayor of Reigate and Banstead at the finishing post for well-deserved congratulations.   The students at Reigate Grammar School are caring and charitable, and it was clear that they were thinking of the run’s purpose all the way. They were so glad to be able to help The Children's Trust, as well as to encourage their peers to live their best lives every day, as well as to never take their mobility and health for granted. They are already looking forward to the next run in 2019!  If this blog has inspired you, go-ahead, click on the link and Get Involved!
