About The Children's Trust: The Children's Trust is the UK's leading charity for children with brain injury. Come and join our team of 500 dedicated volunteers who support us in the vital work that we do, to give children with brain injury the best life possible.
The Children's Trust School is one of the only specialist schools in the UK dedicated to providing education, therapy and care exclusively for children and young people aged 3-19 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). Some of these children live in purpose built accommodation at Tadworth Court. Staff in these houses work closely with the teams in the school to provide continuity of care and learning programmes.
Role purpose: We are seeking energetic and friendly individuals, over the age of 18, to support this vital work, by spending time with the children who live in the houses on site.
What will the role involve?
Reading to the children indivually or in groups
Provide companionship to the children
'Reading' varies from child to child, so it may involved puppets and touch and feel books, rather than conventional reading
What skills and experience will you need?
Willingness to volunteer as part of a time
Excellent communication skills
Trustworthy, polite, helpful and friendly
Adaptability and flexibility
A 'can do' attitude
