The Power of Wheels in 2018

Daniel Baker

We are now just over half way through the year and our fantastic corporate partner Kia Motors UK have already done so much to support children with a brain injury within the ‘Power of Wheels’ partnership. Their determined employees have skydived, abseiled down the ArcelorMittal Orbit and run in one of the hottest London Marathons on record. Staff have also lent a helping hand by volunteering at numerous events and at our national specialist centre in Surrey. In addition to all these challenges there has been fundraising at their office and Kia Motors UK have made generous donations to The Children’s Trust. Their support doesn’t just stop there. They have kindly donated a Kia Sorento for 6 months. Having access to a spacious fully equipped SUV with 7 seats means children and larger families staying at The Children’s Trust can travel together in complete comfort and safety. Long distances for our Brain Injury Community Service in the Sorento are no problem. The generous boot space also provides ample room for a collapsible wheelchair and equipment. The Brain Injury Community Service team from The Children's Trust stood next to the vehicle donated by KIA. So far, the amazing staff at Kia Motors UK have raised over an eye watering £100,000 in 2018. This is a terrific achievement by everyone at Kia and we would like to thank them for their support. We look forward to the second half of the year where a number of employees are cycling in our Surrey Cycle Challenge and running in the Great North Run as well as other exciting events being planned.
