Mum leaps 10,000ft in skydive inspired by three year old son

Mum, Niyutee Khetani, will be swapping jeans for a jumpsuit on 23 September to skydive in aid of The Children’s Trust. Joined by a team of 20, Niyutee was inspired to take on the challenge by her son Kai while he was at the charity for intensive rehabilitation following a road traffic accident. The team, which consists of Niyutee, husband Rakesh and family and friends, hope to raise £10,000 for The Children’s Trust, supporting children with brain injury, as part of charity’s #MyBrave campaign. Kai was left with a serious brain injury in 2016 when he was involved in a road traffic accident. He was only two years old. After hospital treatment to save his life, Kai came to The Children’s Trust for intensive brain injury rehabilitation to try to re-learn how to move and communicate. Niyutee stayed at The Children’s Trust with Kai for 8 months while Rakesh visited on weekends. The family are now back in Stanmore, living in a new home which is adapted to suit Kai’s needs. Niyutee said: “The Children’s Trust will always have a special place in our hearts. It was our home for eight months and being able to stay onsite with Kai during that time made such a difference! It not only allowed me to be involved in his rehabilitation but it gave me the chance to sit around the dining table, sharing experiences with other parents who understand what we are going through which was invaluable. We want to raise as much money for the charity as we can and to show Kai that we can be brave like he has had to be over the last year. He is our superhero.” You can support Niyutee’s #MyBrave challenge online by donating Niyutee’s skydive is part of #MyBrave, The Children’s Trust campaign encouraging everyone to take on a challenge and do something brave to help raise money for children with brain injury.
