Kingswood supporter group take us to new height

Our Kingswood Supporter group holds events and raise awareness about The Children’s Trust all year long through with open gardens, ladies lunches, dinners and lots more.

You think of an event and they’ve probably done it! Last October, they decided to organise a very special event at the Shard which raised over an incredible £34,000 and we’d like to thank them and everyone who attended the evening. The black-tie charity event hosted by the Kingswood Supporter Group was held at The Shangri-La Hotel on the 34th floor of London’s iconic building was attended by 100 people, with special guest, comedian Tim Vine. It began with our chief executive Dalton giving a welcome speech, before introducing the audience to Ian Upton (pictured with wife Helen), whose son Ewan received rehabilitation at with us in 2010, aged 13, following a brain injury sustained as a result of an illness. As the evening drew to a close, antiques expert and Bargain Hunt star, Charles Hanson conducted a live auction. The auction and tables along with other raffles at the event meant to evening raised over £34,000 which is a life changing amount. Katie Roberts, our head of voluntary fundraising said: ‘‘We were delighted that this event, organised by our Kingswood Supporter Group, was such a success. We would like to thank everyone that helped make the evening such a memorable one, with particular thanks to the group and our sponsors, Devine Homes and St Giles Hotel Group.’’
