Fun at Summer Screen

Hannah Vince

On Saturday 1 July 2017 we held our annual Summer Screen event at our National Specialist Centre in Surrey. We aired two films. The Secret life of pets during the day and Bridesmaids in the evening. It was so lovely to see so many of the children we support during the day screening watching The Secret Life of Pets with their carers and families.

Daytime viewers find a quieter corner of the grounds to enjoy the film.
Charlotte Pickering (pictured at the top of this page), who attended The Children’s Trust eight years ago, also came along and spoke about her her experience of The Children’s Trust after receiving intense rehabilitation following a serious illness. Her speech was incredibly powerful and inspirational. We are ever so grateful to her for giving up her time to share her story with our audience and for volunteering on our raffles at each screening.

The evening showing of Bridesmaids - one for the grown-ups!
It was a great event and we were so lucky with the glorious weather on the day. Thank you so much to everyone who attended, to all our wonderful volunteers and to our food vendors who provided a percentage of their income for the food and drink sold at the event. A huge thank you in particular to Natasha Cardazzone and her Brother for kindly donated 100% profit of what they made on the day with their ice cream van. We hope everyone had a great time at this event! Please do contact me at fairs@thechildrenstrust.org.uk if you have any feedback or queries regarding this event or have thoughts on the films you would like to see at our Summer Screen event next year.
