How do I make a complaint about a fundraiser? Door to door answers What is face to face fundraising? Our fundraisers meet people in public places to raise awareness of The Children’s Trust and generate vital regular income.  Our ‘indoor’ teams, who are based in covered areas such as shopping centres and train stations, ask people to donate £8.50 via monthly direct debit. Why does The Children's Trust use face to face fundraisers? A face to face meeting is the best way to explain the various ways in which The Children’s Trust supports children with acquired brain injuries.  It also gives us the opportunity to answer any questions people may have immediately.  Face to face fundraising is one of our most cost-effective methods of fundraising, and helps us to secure long term income on which The Children’s Trust relies. How do I know if a fundraiser is genuine? All of our representatives wear clothing bearing The Children’s Trust logo and carry an ID badge showing our logo, their name, their unique reference number and our registered charity number.  If you have any doubts about a fundraiser please call us on 01737 364349 with their reference number, and we will be able to check that they are genuine. Where are you currently fundraising? If you would like to know if fundraisers are working in your local area please call us on 01737 346349. Do your fundraisers receive training? Absolutely!  Each fundraiser then spends a day at The Children’s Trust national specialist centre in Tadworth, where they can speak with key staff members about upcoming projects and are given a tour of the site and our facilities.   Most importantly, they hear from children and parents whose lives have been touched by the work of The Children’s Trust. Do fundraisers ask for cash? No. Our fundraisers are not legally allowed to ask for cash or cheque donations, they are only allowed to accept donations through Direct Debit. If a fundraiser asks you for cash, they may not be genuine so please call us on 01737 364349 to let us know. Direct Debits are one of the most effective ways of giving to charity. It reduces administration costs and generates a steady and reliable stream of income, allowing us to plan for the future. How can I make a single donation? If you were impressed by our fundraiser but are not able to commit to a monthly donation, you may like to support us with a one-off gift. You can donate online, call us on 01737 364349 or send a cheque to The Children’s Trust, Tadworth Court, Tadworth, Surrey KT20 5RU (please quote reference PS1216 and the fundraisers name if you have it). When does the campaign finish? We do not currently have any active campaigns. Is your fundraising regulated? Yes! The Children's Trust is a voluntary member of the Institute of Fundraising Compliance (IoF) http://www.institute-of-fundraising.org.uk/regulation-and-compliance/ and will join membership for the new Fundraising Regulator (https://www.fundraisingregulator.org.uk), the independent regulator of charitable fundraising, when it is available in 2017. We follow the Fundraising Regulator’s strict guidelines for face to face fundraising and work with the IoF Compliance to ensure high standards of quality, transparency and integrity in this type of fundraising. We closely monitor our fundraisers to ensure that they abide by the regulations through regular call listening and mystery shopping. How do I make a complaint about a fundraiser? Our fundraisers are professionally trained and we monitor and appraise their approach regularly to ensure that they uphold our values. Unfortunately, we do receive a small number of complaints and we take them very seriously. If you have a complaint, please ensure you take the following details to enable us to follow this up - date and time of incident, your name and address (including postcode) and your telephone number or email address to contact you. It is also really useful if you can provide any information regarding the fundraiser you spoke to - such as their name or ID number.
