Request a publication from The Children's Trust, Tadworth and the Child Brain Injury Trust which is for all professionals working with children and young people with severe acquired brain injury.
This document was developed following careful consideration of the evidence available and after consultation with a wide range of professionals specialising in the related fields. Healthcare professionals are asked to take this pathway into account when exercising their clinical judgment.
It is nevertheless important to recognise that the suggestions given in the document do not, however, override the individual responsibility of healthcare professionals to make decisions appropriate to the circumstances of the individual patient, in consultation with the patient and parents, guardians or carers, and informed by the most up-to-date evidence.
The production of this document was made possible through the Department of Health’s initiative for funding for children’s palliative care.
