Volunteer Christmas Celebration: Recognising our volunteers

Brianna Middleton-MacPherson

On Monday 11 December volunteers from all across The Children’s Trust came together for the Volunteer Christmas Celebration, which gives us a chance to say ‘thank you’ to them for all the support they give us. Throughout the evening we celebrated the success of those volunteers who go above and beyond and recognised the outstanding dedication of those volunteers who support us over many years, some have been volunteering with us for over 25 years! We have over 600 incredible volunteers who donate over 100,000 hours of time every year to help, across our shops, houses, school, offices, events and much more. We simply could not provide the care and support to children and their families without this help. Thank you to all our volunteers for your hard work, support and dedication. Chertsey Volunteer Team, Retail Team of the Year 2017 We support children and young people better because of you! Charlotte Pickering, a volunteer but also a young person who once came to The Children’s Trust for rehabilitation, told her story to our volunteers on the night and reminded us of why we’re all here, supporting children with brain injury by driving our children to and from hospital appointments to fundraising at events or volunteering in one of our shops. Charlotte Pickering and Maureen Holdaway - volunteer for over 25 years.  Even our children and young people from the School and Houses got involved in the celebrations, showing their appreciation to our volunteers by being there on the night and baking an array of sweet treats for our volunteers to enjoy.
