Early Years Foundation Stage
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a key aspect of the School's Self-Evaluation Form (SEF), which we review on a regular basis to ensure an optimum service is provided.
Our journey
2016/17
- Engaged with families and external agencies to support the reopening of Taddies, our parent toddler group for children aged up to five years old
- Reinstated a revised biweekly offer of Taddies
- Reshaped the offer to every week to accommodate the increased uptake
- Circulated Taddies leaflets within the community
- Put a request to the educational governance to change DfE status of 3 to 19
2017/18
- Increased Taddies sessions to twice weekly due to popularity
- Outdoor play scoped through NPQML project
- Received change in DfE status from 3 to 19 to 2 to 19
- Pilot of school nursery undertaken with three families
2018/19
- The pilot of nursey opened across 5 days, 39 weeks of the year
- Children from Taddies transitioned to school nursery
- The school nursery supported dual early years placements
- Taddies continued offering support to a growing number of families
- External EYFS consultant and Surrey EYFS advisory professionals supporting the growth of school nursery
- Outdoor purposeful play driven by the external support of EYFS consultant
- Successful school onward placements to Woodlands, Brooklands, Linden Bridge, The Children's Trust and overseas
2019/20
- The school nursery officially named ‘Tadworth Tots’
- Tadworth Tots remained open for four keyworkers and vulnerable children during COVID -19
- Get Outside and Learn action plan supporting outdoor learning in the EYFS
- CPD opportunities in early years with NNEB qualification
- Successful school onward placements to Woodlands and Brooklands
2020/21
- Upskill of staff with NNEB qualification
- Early years policy aligned to statutory frameworks of the EYFS and Developments Matters 2020
- Successful school onward placements to Woodlands, Tadworth Primary and The Children's Trust
2021/22
- Taddies supported a further five families having reopened after lockdown
- Researched and developed a bespoke SEND phonic programme providing sufficient challenges to learners beyond Stage One of phonics
- Onward placements to Fox Grove
