The Children’s Trust is supporting the Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM) campaign to get rights and justice for every disabled child and we are encouraging all our supporters to back this initiative.

The Children’s Trust is an active supporter of the Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM) campaign, which aims to get rights and justice for every disabled child.

EDCM is backed by a number of organisations representing children and young people with disabilities. Thousands of people, including disabled children and young people, parents, professionals, disabled adults, and others working in the field have already signed up to support the campaign.

Latest news:
July 2010 – the Every Disabled Child Matters campaign has launched a new publication, ‘Disabled Children: An Agenda for the New Government’, calling on the coalition Government to provide more support. Click here for more information.

The Children’s Trust has been involved since EDCM launched in September 2006. The campaign has already secured major Government funding commitments for services for disabled children. But more people are still needed to sign up to EDCM to keep the pressure on Government to deliver and go further. Disabled Children and Health:
In June 2009 The Children's Trust supported EDCM in producing a new report 'Disabled Children and Health’, which highlights the failure of the NHS to meet even the basic needs of disabled children. Click here to read more.

The Every Disabled Child Matters campaign wants:
• Families with disabled children to have ordinary lives
• Disabled children to matter as much as all other children
• Disabled children and their families to be fully included in society
• All disabled children and their families to get the right services and support – no matter where they live
• Poverty amongst disabled children and their families to be cut by 50% by 2010 and eliminated by 2020
• An education system that meets the needs of each child and enables them to reach their full potential
• Disabled children and their families to shape the way that services are planned, commissioned and delivered.
