Sally Rigg is doing The Children's Trust's Sleepwalk event

Sally Rigg is preparing to take part in our special charity ‘Sleepwalk’ next month to help raise funds for us and awareness of our charity.

Sally’s 17-year-old daughter Susanna has multiple disabilities and complex health needs and has residential short breaks at the Trust.

Sally said: “For many children with multiple disabilities a good night’s sleep is a rare luxury and this is often the case for parents too, who need to provide 24-hour care for their child. Susanna also suffers from epilepsy and requires regular medication throughout the day to control this, so it is very full-on 24-7 care.

Because Susanna has very specific needs, she has a care assistant at home during the holidays, but having occasional respite care days at The Children’s Trust during the year, allows my husband Simon, daughter Jenny and I to have an occasional break too. Susanna enjoys her time at the Trust and this means that we can also enjoy a day out, or short holiday, knowing that she is receiving the best care and attention in a home-from-home environment.”

Sally who works at Oxted Secondary School will be joined by work colleagues, friends and her 21-year-old daughter, Jenny on 25th September, when they take part in the ten-mile charity ‘Sleepwalk’ which starts at 10 pm in Priory Park, Reigate. They hope to raise as much money as possible.
