The Children’s Trust’s Surrey and Kent shops are part of 5,000 UK charity shops launching the Association of Charity Shops’ February Donate, Don’t Waste campaign.

Donate, Don't Waste encourages people to think again about what they do with their unwanted clothes and items. Instead of leaving them gathering dust or dumping them in the bin, why don’t you help out The Children’s Trust by donating them to your local charity shop?

With ten shops in Surrey and three in Kent, the Trust urgently needs your help to stock their shelves and pack their rails with merchandise.

Our shops would love to receive the following items:

  • clothing, shoes and accessories (whatever their condition)
  • bric-a-brac, toys, games, puzzles (anything which isn’t broken or incomplete)
  • books
  • CDs, DVDs, computer games
  • small items of furniture (please contact your local shop for advice)

As well as selling the clothes and items you no longer want, did you know that the Trust can make money from that white shirt you spilt red wine on or those shoes you wore until they fell apart?! We can bag up those clothes and shoes you might usually throw in the bin and sell them on as 'rag'.

If you are clearing out your wardrobe and come across any items which you think are too tatty to be sold we would still love them, so please put them in a bag and bring them along. If you can label the bag as ‘rag’ it will even save us time when sorting stock.

Orpington charity shop stockAmazingly if each household in the UK donated only one extra black bag of clothing, we could save 25 million bags from ending up in landfill and raise over £740 million for charity (Figures from Association of Charity Shops). Why don’t you encourage your family and friends to have a clear out and at the same time, make a real difference to the lives of the children we care for?

Please bring a bag of donations along to your nearest Children’s Trust shop or The Children’s Trust site in Tadworth. Please do not leave donations outside our shops after opening hours as they may be damaged or stolen.
